Guatemala's History

More Coming Soon...

Guatemala is a Latin American country home to lush landscapes and vibrant indigenous peoples. However, in the late 20th century it suffered 36 long years of civil war that finally ended with reestablishment of an elected government in 1996. Today, the legacy of this lasting conflict continues to reverberate throughout the country. The most populous nation in Central America, poverty among Guatemala's indigenous populations runs as high as 76%. More than 43% of children under five suffer chronic malnourishment.

It's within this context Paradise Bound has been working since 1997, growing programs that do whatever it takes to make positive, lasting material and spiritual contributions to a country slowly emerging from its difficult history.
