If you’d like to squeeze a few more things into your suitcase as you prepare for one of our Mission Trips, below are prioritized wish lists for urgently-needed medicine, medical supplies and equipment.
Medication (In Order of Priority)
- Tussin or equivalent cough/cold syrup, strips, or preferably chewables
- Children’s chewable vitamins
- Adult vitamins
- Naproxen sodium (brand name: Aleve)
- Children’s pain reliever (chewable is preferred, liquid also accepted)
- 1-day or 3-day yeast infection treatment
- Instant Break ice packs
- Adult multi-symptom cold: day-time and night-time
- Hemorrhoid cream
- Hydrocortisone cream
- Anti-fungal cream
- Acetaminophen 500 mg
- Ibuprofen 200 mg
- Antibacterial soap (must be antibacterial or deodorant soap)
- Anti-acids
- Triple antibiotic ointment
Medical Supplies (In Order of Priority)
- Lab-In-A-Suitcase (~$6,000; Click the link to read more about this traveling lab.)
- 2 defibrillators (Preferably each should have a heart monitor option and the ability to print the EKG strip. If not available together, separate EKG/ECG machines would also be desired.)
- Defibrillator pads (children and adult size)
- Portable ultrasound
- Epi-pens
- Lactated ringers IV solution
- Otoscope tips
- Sutures (4-0 and 6-0)
- Betadine scrub sponges
- Needles: (1 ¼ 23G; 5/8 25G)
- TB syringes
- Regular syringes (5 ml and 10ml)
- Sterile laceration kits
- Portable fetal monitor
- Portable pulse oximetry probe for finger
- Portable vital sign machine
- IV infusion pump
- Infant warmers
- Endoscopy equipment
- Mailing labels: (Size Avery 5510—non-weatherproof please!—we go through thousands)
- AA batteries for instruments
- Square 9V batteries for fetal heart tone doppler
- Johnny Jump-Up exerciser
